Everything you need to know about Cosmetic Dentistry

What Is Cosmetic Dentistry?

Cosmetic or aesthetic dentistry includes a few procedures designed to improve your smile. It remains trendy today because more people are looking for a healthy and bright smile. Not only that, but cosmetic dentistry offers excellent benefits such as preventing gum diseases and preserving dental structure.

Aesthetics plays a vital role in dental as well as overall health. All the elements, including teeth, lips, and gum tissues, need to be in harmony to smile freely.

What Are the Benefits of Having Dental Aesthetics?

Most of the cosmetic dental procedures are painless and non or mildly invasive. However, it has other great benefits, such as:

  • An Aesthetic Appearance

Cosmetic dentistry covers dental imperfections such as crowding, chipped, discolored, and missing teeth. Fixing these problems will improve your appearance and dental health.

  • Self—confidence

Since we offer you a more beautiful and cosmetically successful tooth structure, it will increase self-confidence. The self-confident patient shows improvement in his or her life, including personal, social, and professional life.

  • Dental Health

Our cosmetic dental procedure benefits your oral health. For example, cosmetic procedures like bonding help maintain healthier teeth, and gum contouring can help correct an uneven gum line.

  • Painless Treatment Methods

Most of our dental aesthetic treatments are painless. Although local anesthesia is used, the procedures do not cause discomfort. Most patients resume activities immediately after the dental procedure.

Treatment Methods:

At Rosedale Dental Care, we offer various cosmetic dental treatments to give our patients a nice-looking smile.

  • Dental Veneers:

Dental veneers are wafer-like shells fixed on the enamel to change the size, shape, and look of your teeth. Veneers are available in two options; porcelain and composite materials. Both are applied at the dental office, but porcelain is stain-resistant and gives a seamless look.

Our dentist uses veneers to correct a few dental imperfections such as severely discolored, chipped, and cracked teeth. Dental veneers are durable and with proper care can last for ten years.

  • Teeth Whitening:

Teeth whitening treatment is used to remove stains and make the teeth white. Several options are available such as cosmetic and in-office procedures. We recommend in-office bleaching because the dentist can help prevent sensitivity. Furthermore, it provides better whitening results than the trays, gels, and teeth whitening strips.

  • Composite Bonding:

Teeth bonding is the application of resin on the tooth to improve the smile. Dental bonding can repair chipped, cracked, and decayed teeth. The bonding process is fast and lasts typically 30 minutes. Local anesthesia is not used unless there is decay, and the dentist needs to perform a root canal procedure.

  • Tooth Replacement:

We offer you different options for missing teeth, but the best option here is dental implants. Implant are titanium screws surgically fixed on the jawbone to anchor the artificial teeth.

Implants are a great and efficient way of replacing lost teeth because they prevent bone loss. However, implants need enough bone density to be fixed. Insufficient bone will lead to other dental procedures such as bone graft (a treatment for stimulating new bone growth).

We also have a mildly invasive tooth replacement treatment–dental bridges. This dental procedure, however, involves the reshaping of your enamel to make room for the bridges.

The artificial teeth are cemented in place, and with proper hygiene and care, they can last for 15 years.

  • Inlays and Onlays:

Dental inlays/ onlays repair the tooth after dental trauma. Inlays are fitted on the grooves of the teeth while onlays are fixed on the biting surface. The onlays are used if there is severe damage to the teeth that affect the cusps.

Fixing these dental restorations follows the same procedure; the dentist will numb your gums, clean out the decay, and place a temporary inlay or Onlay. A week later, you come back for the permanent onlays.
